When #COVID19 made #masks an everyday essential, a Japanese startup sensed opportunity and created a mask that records/translates speech.
The C-mask by Donut Robotics is designed to be worn over a standard face covering to make communication and social distancing easier. Connected to a smartphone via bluetooth, the mask records what I say and translates my speech using a special app.
If only it was easier to use.
The plastic mask (Bane? Hannibal?) is a bit heavy. The app UI is confusing. And the translation was a bit buggy. That said, it's an interesting riff on wearable tech at this time of pandemic.
